Ide André’s work is born out of an obstinate surrender to the abstract painting. His paintings, often grubby, fleeting, yet at the same time clear and sharp in their appearance, originate from various acts performed in, as well as outside of, the studio space: from the rough physical treatment of the unstretched canvases in his studio, to the dragging along of the unstretched pieces of cloth by 21 playfighting children through a forest, to the hemming of fabrics with his mother at the kitchen table.
